Platinum Jubilee Party
For the Platinum Jubilee weekend, we had our own Jubilee party, which included a tea party inside and out for all our lovely residents beautifully decorated with flags and bunting as well as our own Jubilee pudding for everyone.
Everyone got involved and enjoyed all the fun and festivities, crowns were the required attire of the day as well as ample food, and sandwiches, and every resident had their own jubilee pudding to enjoy.
As you can see from all the images a fabulous time was had by everyone, staff, and residents a like…
Mad-hatters Tea Party
Over the Easter Weekend the Residents enjoyed some Easter inspired activities. This included a Madhatters Tea Party organised by our Activities Co-ordinators Ellen and Emily. During the week leading up to the party many Residents helped make decorations for the dining room, including Madhatters mini hats and the White Rabbit’s pocket watch as a centre piece for the table. On the day they enjoyed some yummy sandwiches, mini scones and other treats prepared by Linda one of our chefs. We played music, Bingo and had a big Easter Quiz! The party was a huge success and we’ll no doubt find an excuse for another soon.
Pebble Painting January 2021
On Thursday 21st January 2021 a few of our residents joined in to paint some smile stones. The idea of this activity is to create something that is able to make others smile. On these stones are messages that we hope will make someone’s day. These will be hidden across Exmouth in order for the community to find and re-hide for others. Some are personal with initials and others read messages such as ‘smile’ and ‘bee happy’. This is something simple that we hope will brighten someone’s day throughout these challenging times.
Christmas Day 2020
This year we tried to keep the residents Christmas day the same as every Christmas. Bringing the residents together to enjoy Lunch and Supper on one long table in the dining room. With the odd exception nearly all the residents were able to join us and celebrate together. Sue and Linda spent many days soaking the fruit cake in Brandy and then decorating it. Lunch was a beautiful Turkey Crown from Porky Down and everyone enjoyed the odd glass of wine.

Summerleaze wins Exmouth In Bloom 2018
October 11th saw Summerleaze presented with an award by the Towns Mayor Jeff Trail BEM for coming first in the local Exmouth in Bloom competition 2018. Residents 100th Birthday Party
Here at Summerleaze we had a good reason to celebrate as one of our residents turned 100. To mark the special occasion for Joan Helliwell were family members and friends who enjoyed an afternoon tea with a large cake, beautiful flowers, and a rendition of Happy Birthday. Special Birthday wishes from Her Majesty the Queen were delivered by Exmouth’s deputy mayor Councillor Maddy Chapman.
Joan Helliwell originally from Birmingham had moved to Exmouth from the Chester area with her late husband in 2004 to be closer to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan has been a resident of Summerleaze in Exmouth since 2012, prior to this she enjoyed an active lifestyle including several holidays with her son.
