October 11th saw Summerleaze presented with an award by the Towns Mayor Jeff Trail BEM for coming first in the local Exmouth in Bloom competition 2018. Collecting their prize bowel and certificate is manager Angela Tunstall who said it was a great honour to receive this award amongst so much competition. The team at Summerleaze have worked extremely hard looking after the gardens and the residents have helped by painting stones and placing them around the garden. Our local handyman affectionately known as “Woody” for his bright and colourful shirts has been on top of all the dead heading and weeding throughout the Summer months.

Residents of Summerleaze Residential Home buried a time capsule in the grounds of their home, with the help of four year old Peter Covell with his dad Mike.
Residents from an Exmouth care home helped organise the burial of a time capsule.
Buried at Summerleaze Residential Home, in Salterton Road, last week, it included stamps, a pen, coins, mobile phone and newspapers.
Mike Covell, the home owner, said: “It was decided to compile a selection of items typical of the present, but which they felt would become history in the not too distant future. They also wrote a letter to the people of the future with a little advice from the present and detailing their hopes for the years to come.”
The project was facilitated by Sue Moore, a holistic therapist. Residents are hoping the time capsule will not be dug up for at least 50 years.
At Summerleaze Exmouth you will find a family run care home with over 25 years experience in the health care industry.
